Business Forum - Take place on May 26,2026

Organised by East Africa Business Council; COMESA Business Council and the SADC Business Council, in collaboration with Kenya Private Sector with the support of the Government of Kenya.

Specific Objectives

  • Specifically, the forum and the exhibition will:
  • Provide an opportunity to the business community to participate in the inaugural launch of trading under the TFTA during the TFTA summit.
  • Provide a high-level platform for structured public-private dialogue and collaboration among the COMESA,EAC, and SADC private sector and policy makers in the tripartite region to promote intra-regional and intra African trade
  • Develop a Business Declaration Identifying the key strategic priorities and private-public sector interventions informing growth in intra Tripartite trade and submit to Tripartite Heads of State Summit for consideration.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing through the exchange of best practices, market intelligence, ICT, and trade and investment opportunities availed through regional integration.
  • Showcase competitive products, services, innovations, and investment-ready projects through the exhibition, enabling firms to access new markets and attract investors.

Expected Outcomes

The forum and the exhibition are expected to lead to the following outcomes:

  • Launch of inaugural trading under the TFTA framework.
  • Strengthened collaboration and coordination among COMESA, EAC, and SADC private sector, resulting in a more unified and influential private sector voice.
  • Enhanced dialogue between the private sector, policymakers, and development partners on regional and continental trade and investment priorities.
  • Identification, prioritisation, and documentation of key constraints to TFTA and intra-African trade, such as non-tariff barriers, regulatory inconsistencies, logistics challenges, and limited access to finance.
  • Development of clear, actionable private sector recommendations to inform policy reforms and implementation at REC and member state levels.
  • Increased market visibility for participating enterprises, particularly MSMEs, through the exhibitions.
